Bring a new perspective to see the world as you look at the world through the child’s lens.
A child is born with a fresh mind, a clean slate and is ready to get filled up with whatever comes in front of the child. A child is free from the past knowledge and is ready to embark on the path of understanding with each passing time.
Different Perception of Each Child
Early childhood educators can witness that each child shows a great level of enthusiasm for learning. The children do not have any built-in memory for prejudices. They build a viewpoint from their own experiences. When an educator set up a classroom, the child is ready to learn all new concepts. Each child could find a different perception of a single resource. And as a facilitator or a teacher, you get an opportunity to see different outlooks with the eyes of different children around you.
Learning in a Different Manner
Teaching goes both ways for everyone involved in the classroom. The students have a pure way of thinking and through a child’s eyes an adult can learn many things. The way, each child handles or solves a problem is different from other and much different to that of an adult. An adult might handle the situation based on past experiences.
Ask a child to be a leader or a teacher for the peers. This way, new lessons can be created and some new logics can be added to the chapter. Through peer learning, children will have the opportunity to understand concepts in a way that is understood. And, the teachers will have the opportunity to understand concepts in a new and different manner.
World is Full of Possibilities
At times, when the children are not behaving well in the classroom, the educators need to interfere or better is to take prevention before the eruption of misbehaviour. A teacher needs to be more attentive and may be the children needs one on one attention or may be the children need to seek help of an adult. The reasons could be many, uncomfortable environment, presence of some unwanted objects, hunger or tiredness, or may be something else. The educator has to be very attentive and listen carefully to the explanations by the children and take preventive measures to avoid any misbehaviour conduct the next time. Such instances lead to a successful classroom plan once considered.
Limitless Imagination
Being a child is the best part of the age. We all would still remember some naughty and loving things that we might love to repeat. But we care for what would people respond as. For the children, it does not make the difference to how the others would respond. They do whatever they are willing to; they are ready to find new answers, new solutions. Imagine how free you’d feel if you didn’t care what people thought about you?
A walk in the garden, picking up bag of veggies, dusting the furniture, or even sweeping the floor; all these are new lessons for a child and the child would be excited to learn each one with equal excitement. As an adult, after experiencing various errands, we might feel these task tedious or boing. We have built-in the reviews, the prejudices for the tasks that we have already experienced.
Look the World with the Child’s Lens
Children teach adults to slow down and examine the surroundings, to stay in the present. That is fun of the childhood and we must look at the world through the child’s lens.
